Carved Paper Rolls by Ana Bidart
When I first saw this work I did think it was created out of toilet paper, however I was mistaken and the rolls of paper are much smaller, similar to receipt paper rolls in fact. Ana Bidart methodically cuts patterns through layer after layer of paper to create these fascinating sculptures that begin to look more like geological models than rolls of paper.

“When the Japanese repair broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something has suffered damage and has a history, it becomes more beautiful.”
